I’ve mentioned in my blog that I love to bake. Aside from cheese tarts and various exotic tarts, I baked butter cake too! =) This is a very easy recipe (again) and it goes very well with the afternoon tea. =)
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of butter (softened)
- 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 cup of milk
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
- Grease the baking pan with some butter.
- Sift all purpose flour and baking powder together.
- Cream both butter and sugar together until it’s fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time until it mix well.
- Add in all purpose flour and milk, a little at a time, by folding them in the bowl.
- Pour into the baking pan.
- Bake 35 minutes – 50 minutes. (You need to check through the oven window. Test it if it turns brown!)
- Poke a toothpick/chopstick into the cake, if it comes out clean, then, it’s ready to be served. If it’s not, you have to return to step 8, until the toothpick/chopstick comes out clean! =)
- Let the cake cool, remove from the pan and ready to serve! =D
SCS salted butter is recommended because it’s much more creamy and smooth. It will make a perfect buttery butter cake! =) Butter cake is actually one of the fundamental recipe for beginner so, you can actually adjust the amount of the ingredients to suit your taste. For example, my family and I prefer to have it less sugared and more buttery, so, I’ll reduce around 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. =) My butter cake, shown in the first picture, is a little over-cooked because I’m busy with FB. LOLOL! And, a little dry. You’ll see cracks on the cake surface if it’s too dry.
The end product is best served hot. The outer layer of the cake is crunchy crust while the inner is soft and tasteful. It’s sinfully delicious and most important, easy to prepare! =)
Till then.
